Nothing alarming: it remains temporary and it regresses with ice, rest and good support.<\/p>\n To be clear: it’s generally not “pain”, but rather discomfort.<\/p>\n Most patients tell me: Simple painkillers are sufficient.<\/p>\n They are rare to encounter, but they do exist, so let’s just talk about them.<\/p>\n For malleable<\/b> implants, it’s virtually impossible. Very rare, but possible in some fragile patients: this occurs when the implant presses too hard against the internal tissues. This occurs in a small number of patients, particularly those who already had fibrosis of the corpora cavernosa before the procedure. In that case, we adjust, we re-educate, we provide support.<\/p>\n This is probably one of the first questions I hear: “Doctor, how long will this take?” The answer is rather reassuring:<\/p>\n \ud83d\udc49<\/b>Malleable implants: 10 to 20 years<\/b><\/p>\n These models are extremely robust. Their mechanical simplicity makes them virtually \u201cunbreakable\u201d. <\/p>\n \ud83d\udc49<\/b>Hydraulic implants: 10 to 15 years on average<\/b><\/p>\n Current models are very reliable. Some patients return after 12, 13, sometimes 15 years to consider a change. Yes of course. I always say: Here’s what really makes the difference:<\/p>\n Monitoring helps to identify minor problems before they become real problems.<\/p>\n What I see, year after year, is that the vast majority of patients move forward calmly after the implant.
